oh we are going to play dress up today

My momma washed all her baby clothes that she saved from us and most turned out great. Sadie is wearing a yellow sweater that used to be mine. Shes very cute in it. Yellow is so pretty on her.

We are out in chilliwack this weekend. Tony is the best man at his friends wedding. Its up at Harrison at one of the fancy hotels. I am borrowing Aria's dress and stuff to look pretty in (its a sexy black dress). Today I must buy pretty shoes and decide on whether or not we bring the baby to the wedding. I think we might just bring her, as long as she naps on the way up. Shes pretty good with sleeping wherever, so she could always sleep in her carseat at the reception. I brought all her pretty dresses, so we will try on those and my old ones and see what she ends up in. I even have fancy little stockings with ruffle bum on them.

I have decided that all baby girls should have ruffle bum things. To go without is a crime in my opinion. I also like dressing her up in dresses. When she was little I only owned one dress for her, now I have lots.

I brought the camera and intend on using it this weekend (now lets see if I go through with this plan as I always bring my camera and then hardly use it here).

Miranda's List of Pictures to take this weekend:

1. Manger scene in the front yard
2. Pretty tree -- left camera card at home
3. Baby fashion show
4. Wedding -- left camera card at home
5. Me in my sexy black dress -- left camera card at home *le sigh*
6. Baby and the family

10 habits + guilty pleasures

1. [Habit] I never check my voice mail. Usually I will call the person back who I missed rather than listen to the message.

2. [Habit] I pick at the hangnails on my thumbs, especially when I am stressed or nervous. Its bad cause I might not notice it until my thumb bleeds.

3. [Guilty pleasure] movies: Harry Potter

4. [Guilty pleasure] Colourful markers, I have oodles of them and the crayola sections always draw me like a moth to the light. Who can say no to rainbows?

5. [Habit] I leave the toothpaste in the shower, Tony hates that.

6. [Habit] I play with my hair without thinking about it

7. [Guilty pleasure] tv show: America's Next Top Model

8. [Habit] I wiggle my feet when I try to fall asleep.

9. [Guilty Pleasure] Fillets of Fish (I will admit, I've eaten a double one of those...very terrible)

10. [Habit] I fall asleep watching tv shows on the ipod

just some random happenings

She's been teething or something again. We fight a lot these days about eating. She thrashes like a fish out of water when I try to hold her to get her eating. She knows the "assumed feeding position" and once that bottle appears, there's screaming and wiggling and more screaming. Her teethies are bugging her again. I can feel many little bumps under her gums. We fight and its a disaster. Formula goes on the floor, on her, me, all over her face, but never swallowed. She even goes as far as to gurgle it back at me in protest while she cries. I did manage to get her eating though. If I restrain her arms from interfering, she tends to give in--thank goodness.

I have yet to find those teething tablets, but I haven't checked london drugs or shoppers yet. Fiona, I know you mentioned somewhere, but I cant remember where.

She's been sleeping ok, but waking up more to eat as shes not eating as much in the day time. She has found that its funner to grab the spoon of food and play with it between her fingers than it is to eat it. She also looks like she wants to feed herself (which isn't going to work just yet).

She enjoys dinner time when we all sit at the table. I've been making it a habit to do it if Tony is around. Before S, we would sit in the living room. I didn't feel the need to eat at the table if there were just 2 of us. She has her own chair now though, so its nicer to have her sit and observe.

This was lunch the other day. Its my favourite sushi roll now. Its the Panda roll. Deep fried yams, asparagus, avocado and sea weed. So awesome. I had to eat it with my fingers because when I got home, there was only 1 set of chopsticks in the take out container.

busy busy busy

Its been a while since I last posted. We've been pretty busy. Last weekend we were visiting Chilliwack. Tony stayed just the weekend and I stayed till Wednesday. So nice to visit the fam. We hadn't seen them in a long while and they were baby deprived.

I had the best time there. We went to abbotsford, got my hair cut at a fancy place. Visited Grandma. Then momma and I went to the thrift stores. I scored tons of craft supplies. I love it when old ladies dump off their buttons, yarn and things. It was the best deals at Bibles for Missions cause they had 25% off everything. I paid $6.25 for a bag full to the brim of stuff. I kinda felt like I was ripping them off. I will be back there for more. I am glad my momma likes to go to these places.

Today it was kinda spur of the moment, but Sadie and I decided to try going to Granville Chapel. I had an extra hour to kill from daylight savings and since babies do not sleep in an extra hour, we headed to church. Got there a little late but we made it. She was so well behaved, she sat with the couple next to me. She liked them. They were really nice and I wish I remembered their names. Oh well, always next time. This church is not what I am used to, but it was nice, and the people were super friendly.

I shall post more later on what I've been making with my thrift store finds.

What I'm Reading...

I'm reading the series called "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. I had no idea what it was about. I've seen them in the book store and I head from a few people now that they are really good. So Beth lent the series to me. I'm finished the first one and on to "Catching Fire" now. I am going to be very sad when they are done. I've watched almost no tv (except half a show last night) and it feels really good. I am going to hunt for more books this week to feed this need.

Hello, my name is Miranda, and I have an addiction to reading.

Seriously though, I do get addicted once I get going. When I was younger, I would hole myself up in my room and read from after school till dinner and then afterward. Sometimes when everyone was sleeping I would wake up and read with a small light. I would read ahead on books that were meant for class reading. I would finish book reports before they were due.

Unlike Aria, I love books that have been "loved". Dogeared, a little old maybe and have "lost" their dust covers. (I hate dust covers and all my books have had them removed and thrown out). Dust covers just get in the way of good reading in my opinion.

Going to check out amazon as well to see what is new and good out there.

not lightroom...just fooling around in photoshop

Just messing around with the colours in my bouquet picture. I miss school sometimes, and today was one of those days where I wish I was able to spend hours just improving my mad skills on the computer. I don't know what I am going to do once my mat leave ends. I dont think I have enough knowledge of the graphic design industry to make it yet. I dont want to work at a call center again :P

I think its time to pray for something new, or something I might love.

doodles again

I was doing so well and keeping up with the dishes and I let it slide for 2 days and its like all the dishes decided to be dirty all at once. What I wouldn't give for an apartment with a dishwasher. Le sigh.

Couldn't get it outta my head. I was thinking about it while waiting at the doctors office. Looking at this now doesn't help cause it makes me need it more. I don't have any in my freezer. :( Been trying to be good about treats and things since I made a lemon curd tart thing a couple days ago.

The tart didn't turn out as I would have liked, the pie plate thing I used was too big for my recipe and therefore it all fell apart when I tried to slice it. It tastes awesome even though it comes out in a big pile of mush and crust. Next time it will be better. I am a citrus gal so there will be a next time.

Cozy!

These are my new fingerless gloves from my friend Kelsey. They are tres awesome! They are elbow length and keep me warm when I am at the computer. Typing with regular gloves just didn't work out.

They are a tweed colour and they make me want to learn how to knit. Maybe she can teach me...hmmmm :) I shall get on making her a robot butter dish I think.

chocolate milk bubbles

I forgot how fun it is to make milk bubbles, even better ones are the chocolate milk bubbles!

Bird and I were cleaning in the bathroom this morning. He has the best time in front of the mirror chirping and dancing around.

We put a sand paper like covering on his pearch and hes been rubbing his beak and head against it (I think hes sharpening his beak, Tony thinks hes just ready to molt again). Turns out I was right. He has been biting Tony more in the evenings and it hurts a lot more than it used to.

Sandpaper was not for his beak, but to sand down his little claws (which is not happening).

So during my crazy busy thanksgiving we went to my Mother-in-laws house and did dinner. Got a chance to look through old photo albums (one of my favourite things). We did this at my Grandmas thanksgiving dinner. Awesome blast to the past. Anyways, one of the things we got to take home was Tony's blanket that his mom made for him. Its beautiful and intricately made, and so warm!

Its perfect to be wrapped in to watch tv in the evenings. I used to have one that was blue, but it was made more loosely than this and got huge holes in it.

oh baby

Its baby time! My first reaction was probably utter shock when I saw that the pregnancy test came back positive. I thought that if I didnt check the test results, or postponed the test that this all might be in my imagination. Well, I managed to check the test, and ta da! I think we were both in a lot of shock, Tony especially. He kept telling me that I was just timing things all wrong.

Well, after taking 2 tests we were 100% positive. I am feeling better about baby, so is Tony. Hes excited / nervous now cause we need to figure out how to afford a baby and still finish school for Tony.

Had a doctors appointment and things so far are good. They did 3 blood tests, 2 to make sure my hormones were still going up and one to find out my blood type (I have no idea what it is). My poor left arm had green bruises for a while, the other arm was ok. Tony liked watching my blood explode into the test tube things. I just laid there with my other hand covering my eyes and cried and shook. Needles are a huge fear and so when I walked into the office I would start shaking all over and need to sit. The smart girls who work there said I needed to lay down, which was good cause I would have passed out otherwise.

Next we did an ultrasound to see how things were going. Baby is the size of a small grain of rice. (Tony calls it his little rice or just baby). I saw the baby's heart beating on the screen, so its doing good. Baby is 7 weeks 5 days old as of today.

So as for me, I feel a little oogy, more so now. Haven't thrown up due to morning sickness, so that's nice. We shall have to see what happens once school starts.

I've been postponing writing this post cause I don't want to jinx anything. Its really early still, and so I worry sometimes, but I have a hopeful feeling that this baby is here to stay.

organizing kinda

This post is for Aria. Limited storage space is just what happens with a small apartment. I only have 3 closets for things and they are tiny. Today I cleaned the "big" closet and organized the towels, sheets, shoes and coats. I am sure Aria could do a better job and would enjoy it more. I had no intentions of cleaning the whole thing, but with the new shoe holder from ikea, it didnt look as good until the whole closet was cleaned.

If I hadnt cleaned it, I would have never discovered the container of black goo in a bag at the bottom in the darkest part of the closet. Gross. Maybe I will show a picture of that, but I think for now I will leave that out.

on a blog!

I am also on someones blog! My creations are gaining popularity I think!

book reading and such

Recently I have been re reading the twilight series books. I really like them, and after seeing the movie I was intrigued to find out what the story was about. I hopped on the twilight train and borrowed Aria's set of books and devoured them. I tend to do that with all my books. So now, I had to get my own cause I needed to read them again (the new moon movie comes out in November)!

I never thought I would get into books about vampires. There are so many out there, but these ones hooked me.

Tony also recommended I read 1984. I never read that book in high school, instead I read Animal Farm, which was meh. Russian revolution was interesting, but this one is better.

I have a system that works well, I read a little of 1984 usually during the day, and then at night I read one of the twilight books. Books that are new to me keep me awake and I never get to sleep unless I read something I've read before. I did this as well with "the road", only my comfort books through that were the Harry Potter books.

I saw the new Harry Potter movie recently, and wasn't too happy with it. It was good, as good as expected, but the book was another favorite of mine and there were added scenes and things I didn't see that I wanted to in the books.

So that is all for now, I am off to find more classic books that should be read. I might re read the Chrysalids or find Lord of the Flies at a second hand book store.

Thunder Storm!

I think I've blogged about this before, so I will keep it short. Man I love thunder storms! So awesome. No power outages for me though, but its great to listen to the thunder.

My house is so clean right now, who wants to come over (keeping in mind that it stays like this for a couple weeks till I'm off work).

human bus stop only

human bus stop only
Originally uploaded by radio real time
I saw this at the bus stop this morning. Kinda was weird and it wasnt until I looked up the website that I realized it was for a movie about aliens as refugees on earth.

So I watched the trailer, and it was pretty cool looking. Tony wants to see it now. It looks well done.

Puppy laid eggs

This is Beth's budgie. We all thought it was a boy until it looked really sick and then popped out a bunch of eggs. Right now it has 4 eggs (as you can see).

Puppy is pretty protective of her eggs and was getting really angry at the camera making clacking noises.

Shes been a pretty good mother though, keeping those eggs warm. Too bad there aren't babies in them. Apparently baby budgies are really ugly. I do want a baby budgie anyways though. What a cute bird.

Chinchilla sitting!

So Tonys friend Ian was going away to Toronto for a couple weeks, he has many rodents, degu and chinchillas. He asked us if we wanted to rodent sit, and we said "why not". We already have a small animal in a cage at our place. I've been to their house, full of little guys. These guys are so sweet, they feel like clouds when you touch them.

So they are our new house guests, and they are doing well. They like their raisins and dust baths. I vaccuum all the time, but they dont make too much mess.

We let them out last night, but it was a nightmare to try and heard them back into their cage. They ran all over the house. One guy squeezed himself behind the bookshelf, smallest space ever.

We let them out tonight, but confined them to the hallway, and had their cage block off access to the awesomly huge living room.

YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE!!!

They got very comfortable with Tony when he let them out.

They were creeping all over. They creeped on my feet while I was laying on the floor with the camera.

Que?

I don't think they enjoyed the flash on the camera, being nocturnal and all...

Its the stunned dear look! OH NOES!
