Sadie's finished granny square blanket
I've felt so guilty lately that Sadies blanket was going unfinished now that I started her brothers blanket. On Friday, I made it my goal to get the last strip of her blanket crocheted on, and then finish the boarder. So, while Sadie napped, I listened to Harry Potter (and the goblet of fire) on DVD and crocheted away until at last, it was completed.
I'm so happy with the end results. Once she woke up from her nap and saw it laying on the floor, she trotted right over and sat down with the biggest grin on her face. She's always known it was hers. She's played with all the squares since I started making this sucker months and months ago.

Homemade iPhone case
So after I got my new iPhone, I played with it, admired it, and then plunked it into the abyss that is my purse.
My purse has no pockets, nothing fancy for your phone or keys or wallet. I realized when I got home that its probably the worst possible place for this gorgeous she-devil of mine. Yes, toss this brand new beauty in with the keys, purse garbage, foil pill packets, and cracker crumbs from baby mum mums....Seriously, what was I thinking???
So once I got home, I figured that until I get a new purse (which I desperatly need), I will make something that will cover my precious until it can be put in a seperate pocket away from the keys.
I used this pattern from allaboutami.tumblr.com and fashioned my iPhone a cozy. I have a LOT of hot pink yarn left, so of course, its hot pink. Bonus to that is that the other colours I have are lighter and will show the dirt from the bottom of my purse--ew. Seriously, I need to clean out my purse. It shall be on my to do list today.

Granny Squares Update
So I've been neglecting my crocheting, and its sad. I dont have near enough for a big blanket for Sadie, but I have enough for a dolly type blanket. The goal is still to make a big blanket for Sadie though. This is what I have so far.
And then I had a little helper come and help herself to my squares.

My very own Crochet Stars
So the last couple days I've made 8 or 9 of these crochet stars. I hope to do a few more. I ran out of white yarn and am low on green. I think its time for a trip to store for some more.
I used this tutorial which was ever so helpful. I think I may even attempt a snowflake pattern, as long as there is one with pictures. I am a visual learner.
Oh and PS, there will be a belated 7 month baby post coming.

Crochet Stars
So not that I am at all a star at crocheting, but I saw this post from one of my followers and now I have to try it!
Crocheted Stars!
This is her star garland. I love it. I am going to try this tutorial to see if I can make one of these. I did also enter in her giveaway to win the garland, but if I dont win, I will still maybe have a star of my own.
Alright, on your mark, get set, CROCHET!

yarn monster
Whilst crocheting my latest project, I felt that the tension in my yarn got really tight. How could this be? I put it on the floor far enough from her.
She managed to roll / pull herself towards it. She got her mischievous little hands all in it and then this happened.
So shes kinda gotten more mobile as of last night when she realized that she can roll to get at forbidden things on the floor. Things like my now slobbered on cell phone, and the remote. She only goes so far though, so if its across the room, she cant get to it...yet. We will see if she picks up on this and rolls around the apartment. If so, I got a ton of baby proofing yet to do.
I cant post the picture of the project I am making as its a gift, but later I will, after the many Christmas's we are going to. :)

My hungry little yarn monster.

Granny Square!
Yesterday we had company over. Dad, Debbie, Colin, Kayla, Beth and Kathryn. Our tiny apartment got pretty full. Nothing we can do. We had marble cake that Debbie brought and an apple pie that I made. Baby and I took some pictures together on the floor before hand all dressed up nicely.
Its pretty chilly in our place. I have the heat turned on, but its not heating the house. Its weird. Might have to call our landlord to see whats going on.
And now the granny square. Larissa, I can teach you now. As long as you can do a double stitch we can do it up. I need some more colours of yarn. I am gonna do up a bunch of these for a blanket.
Bless this Nest Ornament Exchange
So while looking through the blogs, I saw this! Looks like a lot of fun, so I signed up. I have some spare ornaments already made, so away we go. Going to be making some more ornaments today. Not sure what I will be doing, but I want it to be something different. Maybe I will try to crochet a snowflake.
Oh that reminds me! Yesterday Beth, Kathryn and I went out to get yarn. I have white, pink and orange now as well as a multi coloured one for making kitchen stuff. Gotta get my crochet on so I can test out some new things and get good at them. Granny Squares are tough, but so far I found a way to maybe cheat and I may just try it out. Beth taught me the cheat and it worked better than what I was doing. I shall post progress of them later if I finish one that I like.

Huzzah, I've got it!
This was a second attempt at making a washcloth or potholder. The first attempt was very triangular looking. There were issues with missing stitches and tension. This was all ripped out and this one was the result.
And then there was the progression of making squares with scraps of yarn. I tried to "fix" the first one by making it pretty with a purple border. Ya...that didn't work. It now accentuates the lopsided ugliness of it all. By the last one I decided to try the washcloth thing again.
A somewhat better cloth. Still issues with tension, but its not triangular, just more loose in some parts than others. I think I will try another and then learn a new stitch or pattern maybe. I think I like this crochet thing now.
She got a little tired while watching me crochet, so she is napping now. While she sleeps, I will start making another cloth and plan a trip to Ikea for Christmasy things (Tony wants to try the meatballs).
