Christmas Ornament #7 Yarn Ball

I had an abundant amount of Styrofoam balls lying around and many scraps of yarn and felt, so I decided to make ornaments with them.

I used:

• Styrofoam balls
• Green and Red felt
• Red and White yarn
• Hot Glue
• Ribbon

Wrapped the ball with my yarn bits (ran out of red, so used white on top) and then cut out my holly. Hot glued the bits together and TA DA! Ornament for the tree.

I will be making a lot of these I think. I have a giant bag of bits of yarn from the thrift store and I had to use it.

Speaking of thrift stores, I will post my latest finds from Value Village later.

So while looking through the blogs, I saw this! Looks like a lot of fun, so I signed up. I have some spare ornaments already made, so away we go. Going to be making some more ornaments today. Not sure what I will be doing, but I want it to be something different. Maybe I will try to crochet a snowflake.

Oh that reminds me! Yesterday Beth, Kathryn and I went out to get yarn. I have white, pink and orange now as well as a multi coloured one for making kitchen stuff. Gotta get my crochet on so I can test out some new things and get good at them. Granny Squares are tough, but so far I found a way to maybe cheat and I may just try it out. Beth taught me the cheat and it worked better than what I was doing. I shall post progress of them later if I finish one that I like.

Christmas Ornament #6

Some of you might be thinking "GASP! She desecrated the Scrabble game!" Well, it makes fun crafts and it was in the name of Christmas, so don't fret. Besides, its not like I took a brand new game and ruined it. I have had this spare scrabble set in my storage locker downstairs. I've been just waiting for something fun to use the tiles for.

I hot glued the tiles to pretty Christmas scrapbook paper and then put the ribbon on it. Done!

So for all my scrabble lovers, they might just get one of these this year. I have no more "J''s but I can do Noel with some letters.

Christmas Ornament #5

So these didnt take too long, even with the hand stitching around them.
What you will need:

Felt (or other material)
Pins
Scissors
Embroidery thread
Needle (a big one)
Ribbon

Pretty simple. I stuffed mine with a cotton ball inside. Also made a tree, and a star (The star was way ugly and is not going to be used).

Aria says that one year starbucks had something similar to these. I never saw those ones, but I wish I had just to see what they did. Mine were cheaper.

Christmas Ornament #4 [Yarn Trees]

A couple days ago the baby and I went to Salvation Army to see what they had. Our store isnt the greatest, but a while back it supplied me with most of my dishes when I was selling hand drawn plates and mugs. Anyways, I was kinda disappointed with what they had, and as we were about to leave I spotted a small out of place wrack with bags and bags of yarn. Its all mismatched and such, but I am not using it to crochet or knit, so it was perfect for me. $3 bag of assorted yarns for me!

Today I have made Yarn Trees for Christmas Decorations. They would look pretty as a center piece or on a shelf. I am going to dust them sparingly with glitter and put them on my craft dresser.

You will need:

Scissors
Cereal box or sturdy card paper
Yarn
Hot Glue Gun

Steps:

-Then curve it into a cone.
-Glue it together with the hot glue gun.

-Starting at the top, I put a dab of hot glue at the tip of the cone and then put attached the yarn.
-I wound it all the way down and then a few dabs of glue at the bottom to hold the yarn there.

-Then to make my tree look a little more tree like, I wound the yarn back up not as tight, just to give it some volume.

-One more dab of glue at the top and then I cut the yarn.

Christmas Ornament #3 [Norwegian Woven Paper Heart]

Norwegian Woven Paper Heart.

I used:

-Scissors
-Glue
-Sheet Music
-Christmas Scrapbook paper from last year
-Red Ribbon

I used this tutorial to make mine. The sheet music is beautiful (thank you again Laura).

I am going to be making a bunch more. The sheet music looks so nice with it. Gotta dig up more of my Christmas papers. I also like them because you can put treats or things inside them. They would be great for Valentines day. Maybe I'll make 25 of these and make them kinda like an advent calendar, each pocket can hold a treat and part of the Christmas Story in it.

These are my felt roses that I was making today. Dead easy to make and you could do it with tissue paper as well. They are part of something bigger. Maybe a bouquet or on a wreath. Gotta make a wreath this year, its one of my crafty goals.  I used this tutorial to make them.
