Our Christmas + a surprise

 (Written Christmas Day)


We had three Christmas dinners this year. I must have ate my weight in turkey dinners and treats. I think turkey dinner is my favourite dinner of all. I love stuffing, gravy, cheese sauce, and mashed potatoes. So delicious.

Sadie enjoyed the attention. She got to sit in front of presents and hit them, or hold the paper while mommy ripped it off. She loved the taste of new toys.

We had our own thing at home, just the three of us. We relaxed, watched movies, ate brie and crackers, and other treats. I baked a bazillion cookies and decorated them with my new Wilton gel food colours. I foresee making many cookies, I love to give them away. With practice, I am getting way better at piping. Should have taken photos of the cookies :( They are gobbled up by those who got them as gifts.

I'm very much looking forward to trying out my new sewing machine from my mom and dad. I am going to be making things as soon as I get it all set up. 

Oh, and then we also got another unexpected Christmas Present. Surprise!

Wrapped

More like decorated. I bought these boxes months ago from Michaels and they are perfect for my Christmas Presents.

Used my washi tape to make them spiffy, and they are ready to go.

what we were up to...

Sadie and I spent the last couple days in Chilliwack. We had a wonderful time with the family an overnight Christmas party.

Obviously she made friends with everyone including Santa.

I also got a picture of my Aunty Dar's handmade Nativity scene that is at my momma's house. Its beautiful.

Christmas Ornament #7 Yarn Ball

I had an abundant amount of Styrofoam balls lying around and many scraps of yarn and felt, so I decided to make ornaments with them.

I used:

• Styrofoam balls
• Green and Red felt
• Red and White yarn
• Hot Glue
• Ribbon

Wrapped the ball with my yarn bits (ran out of red, so used white on top) and then cut out my holly. Hot glued the bits together and TA DA! Ornament for the tree.

I will be making a lot of these I think. I have a giant bag of bits of yarn from the thrift store and I had to use it.

Speaking of thrift stores, I will post my latest finds from Value Village later.

My little Christmas tree

 Almost done except the star is missing. I need to get one of those today.

One of my favourite ornaments. Its a straw star from Israel. 

This is the oldest one I have. I love it. I got it in Grade 2 from "Santa" in school. It was the first ornament that wasn't made by me for my momma. Not made of beans and lentils, not scribbled on, no, not homemade, and all mine.

This one is just too cute. I got him a year or 2 ago when I had my little toilet brush of a tree. That itty bitty tree could only support the weight of tiny glass balls, so this guy wasn't used on the tree until this year.  Hes my marshmallow snow man on top of hersheys chocolate and a graham cracker

Personalized Christmas Stockings

Finished them last night after I decorated our Christmas tree. Each stocking was like $2.00 from the mega walmart in Chilliwack. They were plain red felt with the white trim. I had just got 2 big bags of felt at the thrift store for $2.00

This craft was pretty cheap even if you dont have thrift store felt. I used 2 sheets, one red and one white. Have lots of red leftover.

So I printed some winter like animals and traced their silhouettes and did some fine cutting. Tony has a whiskey jack, I have the reindeer and Sadie (nicknamed bunny girl by Grandma) has a hare.

They are hanging by the kitchen with care.

Christmas Ornament #6

Some of you might be thinking "GASP! She desecrated the Scrabble game!" Well, it makes fun crafts and it was in the name of Christmas, so don't fret. Besides, its not like I took a brand new game and ruined it. I have had this spare scrabble set in my storage locker downstairs. I've been just waiting for something fun to use the tiles for.

I hot glued the tiles to pretty Christmas scrapbook paper and then put the ribbon on it. Done!

So for all my scrabble lovers, they might just get one of these this year. I have no more "J''s but I can do Noel with some letters.

Christmas Wreath

There, its done. I'm so thankful that I found the hot glue, otherwise it would drive me crazy not being able to finish it (especially when everything was done, just needed assembly). Its kinda simple, and just has Christmas colours in it. I will get a picture of it on our front door when I get something to hang it with.

Christmas Ornament #5

So these didnt take too long, even with the hand stitching around them.
What you will need:

Felt (or other material)
Pins
Scissors
Embroidery thread
Needle (a big one)
Ribbon

Pretty simple. I stuffed mine with a cotton ball inside. Also made a tree, and a star (The star was way ugly and is not going to be used).

Aria says that one year starbucks had something similar to these. I never saw those ones, but I wish I had just to see what they did. Mine were cheaper.

Christmas Shopping

This morning I woke up feeling pretty crappy. I was cold and felt gross and couldnt wait for naptime. Now that its naptime, I get to online browse/shop for the little girl and Tony. He is also sleeping in after staying up late doing homework.


So far for Christmas, I bought only one thing...really sad for me actually. I like to get it all done like now, but I am only just starting. BOO


So far I found a roly poly ball for the girl. Yay eBay.

Also am looking for a cute ugly doll. Going to the Childrens place/market...whatever its called (on granville island) soon to grab one for her. She does love her collection of them so far. They are nubbly and great for sucking on and laughing at.

So I am almost done my button tree craft. The wreath needs work still. Larissa and I did an attempt at wreath making. I need some filler stuff for mine.

Hmmm what else. Gotta think of something to do for an Advent calendar this year. Maybe my mini tree will be an advent calendar. Oh speaking of tree...we were given a 3 ft tree this year (Thank you mom and dad). So now instead of a toilet brush looking tree, I will have bigger better one. Now I gotta get some ornaments going. If I make a couple a day it might look nice.

Disneyland part 4, the last of the pictures that I have

Mik and I hung out for a bit, rode on a rocket ship ride, it was cute. Got to see the california theme park from up high. She looks so cute here.



When we were done our ride, we headed over to this one, the raft ride. Mom, Dad, Aria and Tony did that one. There were people dressed in rain gear. Too bad thats not gonna work. Everyone got really wet, especially their feet.


Mom and I waited for the 4 to do the screaming california roller coaster. Mom was done riding and we were almost ready to head home when Mik saw that the wait time was like nothing! SCORE! So they did her favourite ride.


This is the one I took where I was watching them all do that same ride. They loved it so much. I loved watching this roller coaster take off and hearing the screams.





This is one of the Baby's presents from us. The others still need pictures and are a little big for it, but when it gets bigger it will have them all. :)


We did the Christmas Parade and Pixar Parade as well as the fireworks on our last night. Fireworks were awesome and really blow the symphony of fire out of the water. But they do them every night and there was Christmas music and it was the night before Christmas so it made it better.

We did quick shopping and took advantage of some of the clearance stuff there. I would defiantly do this again, but not pregnant and maybe with a toddler. That was one thing that kept me smiling throughout the trip, seeing all the little girls with the princess dresses on and the boys with cute hats. If I had the money, I would drop it on a princess dress if baby was a girl. Even the Alice in Wonderland dress was awesome, but I preferred the sleeping beauty or belle ones.

It looks like we shall have to plan another drive down in a few years.

Christmas Day we went to Medieval Times. The Medieval dinner theater thing. It was the only show that day and we got there early.

Once you get there you are assigned a coloured crown which is the colour of your knight and seating section. If you get there early, you get better seats. Well, we got there super early and got awesome front row seats for our knight, the blue knight! We had no utensils and got metal plates and cups and things. It was dark, and there was jousting and a princess and an evil knight.

Its a something you have to do if you are in Anaheim. Tony loved it, he said it was like every little boys dream to go. We got to be all rowdy and eat a lot of meat and things. It was a good Christmas thing to do away from home.

And now that I have had my breakfast and my hair is dry, it is time to work out a bit and then get a coffee from somewhere that has peppermint mochas.

Christmas Dinner

Although the plan was to skip Christmas dinner in favor of going on vacation, my momma couldn't bear not to have turkey dinner and all the good stuff. So off we went to Chilliwack for awesome dinner time. During the day it snowed! I love Christmas dinner when it snows.

This little dude was in Mikaela's Christmas cracker. I got vampire teeth in mine :) We obviously traded, her being a twilight fan. Me, well I had plans for my extinct friend.



We grew up with the rules of "no toys at the table", and "you cannot play with your food". We get away with it at Christmas as it was humorous. I like that he is in a brown swamp here (my gravy and taters).

Other things that happened were that we watched "The Nativity". Very good movie, I didn't like the parts where they were having babies as I avoid all those things at the moment. I was worrying about all that a week before, had gotten to the point of not thinking about it and being excited to just have a baby instead of the stuff to come before that, and last night I got home and panicked again. Tony was nice to me and said nice things and I feel a little better now. In the end I get to take home a baby and all that pain and stuff goes away, and thats all I need to think about.

My momma was all excited, she went to give me a hug and bumped into my belly. "There's a baby kangaroo in there!" she exclaimed. I was wearing my hoodie and she just thought it was loose like it normally was (not anymore). She got all excited. It was so cute. The two of us started looking at baby outlet stores in the states where they are pretty cheap. That was awesome. Now I want to know what it is so I don't have to get gender neutral colours like yellow and green. Tony is liking the green idea though :P
