Sick, blech!

It hit yesterday. Tony wasn't feeling so well. He was tired all the time and grouchy, and he was stressed about an exam coming up on Monday. Well, I got the neocitran, the buckleys cold pills, and the puffs plus tissues with vicks in them (gotta have the good stuff when you are sick).

He laid on the couch, or slept in bed and only came out to whine about how he was sick. I made homemade turkey noodle soup and I think that helped a bit.

Well, today I'm sick. I woke up to feed the small child at 2 am in the blessed morning, and realized that I could barely swallow. My throat was so sore and glands were all swollen. After she ate and went to sleep, she allowed me to sleep until 7.

Baby is fine so far. Shes happy, she had a fit last night cause her mouth hurt. She has a top tooth that has just appeared. She was clingy and cried at the drop of a hat. Poor gal. Needless to say, she had some tylenol and went to bed early.

My plan for today is to be useless on the couch, drink soup and green tea, and then later watch the Oscars. Maybe make more turkey noodle soup if I feel like it.

Granny Squares Update

So I've been neglecting my crocheting, and its sad. I dont have near enough for a big blanket for Sadie, but I have enough for a dolly type blanket. The goal is still to make a big blanket for Sadie though. This is what I have so far.

And then I had a little helper come and help herself to my squares.

This is what a label maker is for...

Happy 9 Months Sadie

From slithering, to creeping, to crawling, you are always on the go now. You love being naked, or almost naked, so what better way to celebrate being 9 months old than getting to play naked for a bit.

You blabber on to yourself or me early in the mornings.

You get into so much trouble. I've had to fish many things out of your mouth. Vacuuming is now a daily thing, cause otherwise I find you gagging on bits of felt or stuff you find in the carpet.

You have a love / hate thing going on with solid foods. Some days are good eating days, like this morning, it has started well. But some days you refuse to eat. You frustrate me. Today for snack in the living room, you had banana, and you loved it. You also loved using my pants as a napkin.

Speaking of fruits, I found you a wooden set of fruit that velcro together. I loved these when I was little, so I was so happy to see them at winners. You love them too. You gnaw on them like real food almost.

Happy 9 months sunshine.

Happy Valentines Day

I made Tony a felt envelope with his name on it. It kinda sucks, but I'm still practicing with my sewing. Haven't sewn in a while, so it was fun, and I had no machine issues--which made things even funner!

I ran out of white felt, so Tony gets more pink.

So once it was finished, I filled my handmade envelope with his favorite candy and a card that I made.

Its a tradition that we make cards for each other. I don't care that hes not artsy, I love his stick people cards.

I have plans on making a better envelope, but not today. Today is for hanging out and relaxing. Tony is on his reading break, so he gets a week off. :) I plan on making fancy dinner tonight.

Pickle Fiend

This was her first taste of a delicious dill pickle. First she had to figure it out. Flick it, wiggle it, squeeze it (pickle juice everywhere) and then taste it. She loved it. She played with it, but mostly it stayed in her mouth until I had to take it away.

It got mushy and started to look pretty hazerdous to her health. I took it away and it was like her world ended. There were big sad crocodile tears and much whining. Alas child, it had to be. Soon distracted with my cell phone, and she was over it.

A couple days ago, we went out to White Spot for dinner. I was silly and forgot some toys for her. Shes easily entertained, but that evening, she figured out that she could entertain herself (and possibly the whole restraunt), but yelling. She loved it. She hollered, and squealed with delight when everyone at our table, and the surrounding ones looked at her. We fixed that by feeding her dinner of peaches, but she was done lightening fast and back to yelling.

Beth's pickle fixed everything. She was entertained long enough so I could eat. When the pickle was dead, she played with a spoon and was content. Thank you Beth for the use of your pickle.

its a miracle!

We got the house clean -- kinda. I shall explain. So there's "clean" and then there is "quick-hide-the-crap-and-make-the-surface-look-nice" clean. The surface is "clean" :) I cheated. But I mean, I let things go around here, and a "real clean" would take too long. Especially when I had company coming over.

So my helper and I did a load of laundry. There is always more, but its nice to have clean clothes instead of "semi clean" ones. She sat there quite content pulling out warm clothes and sucking on them. They have been marked now.

The one thing about cleaning day is Sadie HATES vacuuming. Shes not fond of any loud noise, but this isn't that bad. So I sat her as far away from the dreaded beast as I could get her - her high chair. Well, as soon as I turned it on, she had her arms up in the air and was yelling " EH! EH! EH!" as if to say "Help! You've abandoned me and this terrible monster that you drive around my floor is after my feet!"Poor gal. She yelled the entire time. She didn't cry though. See, shes not that afraid.

Oh, and I talked to my friendly neighbour lady who has two little girls and the amazing stroller that is parked next to mine. She did a demo on her stroller--which is SO AWESOME! I swear, the big guys in the corporate world had moms design this sucker. *swoon* Too bad its probably just a dream stroller.

Oh, and I got the moby wrap in the mail today. It works amazingly, so I will take a picture to show you when we go for our walk tomorrow.

slacking

I've been slacking on a lot lately. Slacking on blogging, taking pictures, doing dishes, laundry and probably everything else. Also slacked on Sadie's neck exercises (explained in this post) which means we need another physio appointment. I felt pretty horrible after her appointment. I could have been doing more, but I haven't been carrying her around a lot cause shes getting heavy. And now I'm kinda whining about carrying a heavy baby when really, shes not heavy at all for her age. Shes actually petite.

I will be back to cleaning and blogging soon, just gotta get motivated to do it. It helps a lot when Tony isn't home. I clean way better when I am alone.

So maybe when this crappy rainy weather backs off, I can take baby out to the park and take pictures of her.

Oh, I found out that the family that moved away when Sadie was born, is back in our building again. They had 2 little girls in a one bedroom when they moved, and now they are back after snagging the 2 bedroom in our building. Very cool. I wondered who the family was that had the green stroller parked beside mine in the laundry room. I have totally have stroller envy. She has the phil&teds double stroller that I love.

I think that a few lemon drops will be a reward for me cleaning the kitchen today. Oh I love them (beside them are rootbeer drops- also love)
