Its a party! Sadie Turns 1!

 With much help from my family, we threw Sadie a Very Hungry Caterpillar birthday party. Mikaela and her friends blew up all the balloons, and Aria made a caterpillar out of them. Sadie woke up from her nap and could hardly contain herself when she saw the balloons and decorations. She was "EEEEEEE-ing!"

We made ducky punch , which not only looked wonderful, but also tasted delicious! We used the recipe from here.
We also had caterpillar cupcakes, fruit and munchies.
 The birthday girl opened presents,and everyone had the same idea as of what to get her. She received 3 pink fisher price singing tea sets. 3 of them! Yes, even I got her one. Thankfully she loves them, and we can return the extras for something else.
 As far as cake was concerned, she picked at it for a while with her pincers (pincers: index finger and thumb only). Its normally how she eats her food. She got into it after a while though.
 I loved that she couldnt figure out exactly how to eat it, so she got into it face first. She polished off a fair amount of cake and had to be hosed off in the sink. So thankful that she was sans clothes for it all.
Coley sure thought she was amusing eating her cake. Such a good time. It was a nice little party.

[baby update] 26 weeks

{Sometimes Sadie is out of sorts when she wakes up from a nap, so we cuddle when she wakes up}

Thats my spot. I take over the love seat in the living room usually. Its prime real estate as its next to the window, wall outlet (for lappy) and in front of the tv. I can see almost everything going on in Sadie's pen, except beside my love seat (where she hides).

I've been trying not to be a debbie downer lately. I've been planning Sadie's birthday party. Its just a small thing, snacks and presents, and Sadie gets to eat her own cupcake.

Coley came to visit me the other day. She brought me turkey dinner that her and her husband made. It was delicious. I shared a little turkey with Sadie, but the rest was MINE! We talked about where we wanted to move to once this baby was out, and she convinced me to look at Port Coquitlam and Pitt Medows. The commute time for Tony would be about the same as it is from our house to his work, maybe a bit longer. The amount of space you get for the rent is awesome. We could maybe afford a 3 bedroom place, but I'm not setting my hopes on that. An office/craft room would be awesome though *sigh*.

I had an ultrasound yesterday. I dont think it went as well as it could have. Baby's head was really low. Like really really low. Now I know thats to be expected eventually, but its just gonna put stress on my already stressed cervix. She was saying his head was right up against the cervix. Yikes. Speaking of cervix, that too was also not as good as I thought. She measured the lenght, and it was a little shorter than last time. Now I haven't had a phone call from my doctor asking me to come in, so maybe its not that bad, but if tomorrow I have no phone call, I will be a little more relieved.We were thinking of doing lunch after the ultrasound, but we skipped that and went for triple O's drive thu and went home. I'm stressed out now, and I feel incredible guilt that its my fault for getting out of the house every few days to slouch in starbucks or recline in the car on a quick drive. Thankfully the weather is terrible now, so I'm not missing much.

I will end this on a happy note. Tony and I have picked baby's first name! Won't be sharing it until he is out, but its exciting for us. Now to figure out a good middle name :)

new old treasures

Best way to spend a rainy day? I think so.

My mom had stored a lot of our childhood books under the stairs, and today, she braved the cobwebs and overwhelming amount of Christmas boxes to bring them out. We found so many wonderful treasures for her to read when shes bigger, as well as some to read to her now.

We found the whole set of Beatrix Potter books, Dear Garbage Man (most pollitically incorrect book from the 50's about filling swamps with garbage) as well as my moms Dr Seuss books. The best thing that she found were my Little Suzy books that my grandparents gave me.They were based on a christian radio series in the 40's. I have read most of them, and they are super cool. I'll show pictures of them later when someone brings them up for me.

This last week has been good. Sadie has been having teeth issues,and the last 3 days was waking up multiple times per night much to Tony's dismay. He has still not gotten used to waking up at night and hes tired and grouchy. I've talked to him about letting her cry herself to sleep, but I want to wait to do that later on a bit, like when we arent sharing a bedroom with the little girl. I cant deal with screaming in my room. Last night though was so nice, she only woke up once, and slept from 9:00 to 7:45. Lets just say, everyone is much happier due to more consistant sleep.

We dont look forward to lack of sleep with baby boy, but thats just how its gonna be.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM

Oh did we ever enjoy our ice cream treat yesterday. We went to the place just 5 minutes down the road. Its right in farm land. It was a nice get away from the house -- don't worry, I'm gonna take it easy now for the rest of the week/weekend. No escaping any more. I couldn't miss out on her first ice cream experience.

Sadie had to taste everyones ice cream. Also, part of trying ice cream is putting your hands in it, which she kept trying to do. She had to figure it out, like all her new food experiences. Many napkins were used on this trip.

The weather just keeps getting nicer and nicer. I lay on the patio some times and watch Sadie play in the planters. She really likes flowers. She's been pulling off their petals and clenches them in her hands before we see mass amounts of them all over the patio.

Right now shes grumpy, I think its naptime

view from the couch

{Daddy and Sadie playing early morning}
{KITTY}
{Lunch time, Mikaela - my sister- gags a lot}
{Girl cant have the blocks stacked more than 1 high, she will go after them and take them apart}
{Play yard fence thing, Best thing ever.}
{Grandma and Sadie getting ready to watch Americas Best Dance Crew - love that show now}
{Sadie hates it if you dont share your food, especially popsicles}
{They had a good time sharing and reading Avon magazines}

Since blogger deleted my post on the view from the couch, I've redone it again.

This week has been much better than the last one. Despite missing out on being a bridesmaid at my sister in laws wedding, I've been less depressed this week. I had an ultrasound at St Pauls hospital and so we made a trip to vancouver for the day. God knew I needed a nice day out because it was the only sunny warm day we've had all week. I got to slouch in the front seat and have the windows open (my thermostat has been running hotter lately).I even cheated a tiny bit and walked around a fruit and veggie stand with my mom and Sadie. It was a wonderful day. Tony stayed in vancouver over night to go to the wedding. He came back yesterday and told me all about it (weddings from guys perspectives are not the same FYI-- so I'm calling his sister Beth, to hear about how things went.)

 I've been crafting all kinds of goodies, cards, and things for my friends and family. Tony shall be making a run to the post office for me to get these things sent out this week. He also needs (yes NEEDS) to bring back a tall starbucks drink, preferably a tall mocha.

No gallbladder attacks or heartburn thanks to the acid reducers that I take. I'm taking them when I need to, and I'm taking a lower dosage. Digesting laying down or slouching aint fun (or pretty). The ultrasound seemed ok, but I dont get my hopes up. I'm on edge a little today, worrying about if the dr's office will call me today or tomorrow.

So that is all for now. Today I might be posting peeks of things I am making. Time to CROCHET!

[baby update] 25 weeks + baby bump

I figured while I was brushing my teeth, it was time to take a baby bump photo. This was the best I could do given that I was using my iphone and take terrible self portraits.

Hes been quite kicky lately. He likes it when I lay on my side. It seems that when I am on my side, he lays sideways and moves all over the place.

Yesterday was my ultrasound, and so far they think it went well. Everything is showing closed. YAY! Maybe by my next appointment I can do more moving around. Yesterday was my first day out of the house in forever, and it was the nicest day. Sunny, warm, windy, all my favorite things! We even stopped to get veggies on the way home from a veggie fruit stand, and I cheated and walked around just a little. Oh it felt wonderful.

Im back to resting now. Have some craft things and momma is off to the store to get me some supplies.

we've made it 24 weeks baby!

We're not out of the woods yet, but its one of those milestones that we needed to make with this pregnancy. The point of viability! I'm very relieved that we've made it this far and not had any preterm labour.

So far things look good, baby is good and healthy, and my last doctors appointment went really well. Cervix is staying closed, and I'm hopeful to start doing more activity maybe after my next appointment, but we'll see. My next appointment is a day before Tony's graduation ceremony, so maybe my doctor will let me go if I use a wheelchair.

This week was great.We havent been up to much, but we managed to dress Sadie up in her easter dress that I didnt get to use. The family took her to church on Mothers day, and Tony and I stayed home and relaxed sans everyone and baby.  Mothers Day was so nice.  Tony went out with my sisters and brought back such wonderful treats. He brought home roses and my favorite candies from the english sweet shop.

IT CAME!

I'm drooling.

My Mennonite Girls Can Cook recipe book came in the mail today!

I've read it already, but now I need to go back and slowly read it again, and scope out all the recipes that I want to have made for me, and read all the wonderful stories that are shared along with the amazing recipes.

I'll write up an update for you all later on how all our many appointments went.

shopping [online]

I never realized how much I would miss shopping while being stuck on the couch. Its one of those things that I forgot that I would miss. Thankfully there are such things as online shopping now. Oh eBay, what would I do without you?

So while its not the same --cause things take time to get to me and I dont get instant gratification of taking it home right after paying, its kinda fun. Its pretty much like Christmas, but knowing what you will get. Im now just waiting for the mail man to start bringing my packages.

So what have I bought? Welll, I got some cute baby things.

Ugly Deer

I love these guys, and so far Sadie does too, so now all my babies will have a couple.

Trumpette Socks

The little mary jane socks that I had for Sadie were super handy. Babies dont walk, so I see no real need to put them in shoes.To me, they are a must have. I absolutely adore them.

I was feeling all bummed, but a little retail therapy had helped so much. Cant wait for my new friend, the Mailman!
