A little bit of vintage
Sadie is wearing my vintage yellow sweater along with her baby leggings, pink onsie and cute thrifted yellow shoes.
I wore this sweater a lot when I was little. Its missing a button, but I can take care of that seeing as I have a ton of white buttons hanging around.
Oh, and Happy New Years Eve! We shall be playing Wii today and eating yummy foods like burgers, egg rolls and treats.

sad times
She wasn't a happy camper the last couple days. We got home from Christmas as my moms place, and that night, it took 4 tries and many tears before she would sleep. She went to bed around 11pm. Not a normal thing for my girl. She's the best bedtime/naptime girl I know. I thought it was all due to the fact that she was overtired and overdone from all the Christmas stuff.
Well not so. That morning I went to give her a taste of my breakfast, and my finger hit something very sharp in her mouth. Yes, she has cut one tooth. Its on the bottom. Finally. Its barely out, and heaven forbid that I try to touch it. Shes a pro on keeping her lips sealed.
This may be why she was chewing on her bottom lips and sucking on them when she had naps and even during the day in these pictures.
When I can pry her mouth open, or when its very visible, I shall get proof that she has a fang.

Goals for 2011
Never have I done the New Years Resolutions, but I decided to make myself some goals for this year. I'm gonna try to stick with them.
1. Read some classics
2. Stay away from McDonalds/Fast food
I'm bad for wanting quick food so I can be lazy and not cook. Well, I am gonna figure out some meal plan things to make things easier, and make meals that can be put in the freezer and used for when I do feel lazy.
3. Feature more crafty things here
4. Start up my Etsy shop again
Its been a long time since I put things in the shop. I do want to start sewing, so maybe some creations will appear there.
5. Exercise with Tony
We both have said we need to hit the gym. I know I always feel better after doing exercising, so we made a plan, and need to now organize baby sitters.

7 Months Old
Oh little girl, you are now 7 months old. You are learning so much. You babble on and on saying "yayayayayayaya" and go "heh heh heh!" when you are excited about something.
You also sit up on your own now, although you get excited and fall with a thud on your head. You will get the hang of it soon enough.
You love standing with help from your daddy. You are so proud of yourself when you stand by yourself.
Even though you are teething, you still manage to smile.
You are a super shopper, and are so good in the stroller. We shop shop shop and you make friends with your dazzling smile.

what we were up to...
Sadie and I spent the last couple days in Chilliwack. We had a wonderful time with the family an overnight Christmas party.
Obviously she made friends with everyone including Santa.
I also got a picture of my Aunty Dar's handmade Nativity scene that is at my momma's house. Its beautiful.

My very own Crochet Stars
So the last couple days I've made 8 or 9 of these crochet stars. I hope to do a few more. I ran out of white yarn and am low on green. I think its time for a trip to store for some more.
I used this tutorial which was ever so helpful. I think I may even attempt a snowflake pattern, as long as there is one with pictures. I am a visual learner.
Oh and PS, there will be a belated 7 month baby post coming.

Crochet Stars
So not that I am at all a star at crocheting, but I saw this post from one of my followers and now I have to try it!
Crocheted Stars!
This is her star garland. I love it. I am going to try this tutorial to see if I can make one of these. I did also enter in her giveaway to win the garland, but if I dont win, I will still maybe have a star of my own.
Alright, on your mark, get set, CROCHET!

A little bit of vintage
Shes wearing my little yellow dress. Its a tad too small on her, but she looks so cute in it (especially with the ruffle bum stockings).

oh we are going to play dress up today
My momma washed all her baby clothes that she saved from us and most turned out great. Sadie is wearing a yellow sweater that used to be mine. Shes very cute in it. Yellow is so pretty on her.
We are out in chilliwack this weekend. Tony is the best man at his friends wedding. Its up at Harrison at one of the fancy hotels. I am borrowing Aria's dress and stuff to look pretty in (its a sexy black dress). Today I must buy pretty shoes and decide on whether or not we bring the baby to the wedding. I think we might just bring her, as long as she naps on the way up. Shes pretty good with sleeping wherever, so she could always sleep in her carseat at the reception. I brought all her pretty dresses, so we will try on those and my old ones and see what she ends up in. I even have fancy little stockings with ruffle bum on them.
I have decided that all baby girls should have ruffle bum things. To go without is a crime in my opinion. I also like dressing her up in dresses. When she was little I only owned one dress for her, now I have lots.
I brought the camera and intend on using it this weekend (now lets see if I go through with this plan as I always bring my camera and then hardly use it here).
Miranda's List of Pictures to take this weekend:
1.Manger scene in the front yard
2. Pretty tree -- left camera card at home
3.Baby fashion show
4. Wedding -- left camera card at home
5. Me in my sexy black dress -- left camera card at home *le sigh*
6.Baby and the family

yarn monster
Whilst crocheting my latest project, I felt that the tension in my yarn got really tight. How could this be? I put it on the floor far enough from her.
She managed to roll / pull herself towards it. She got her mischievous little hands all in it and then this happened.
So shes kinda gotten more mobile as of last night when she realized that she can roll to get at forbidden things on the floor. Things like my now slobbered on cell phone, and the remote. She only goes so far though, so if its across the room, she cant get to it...yet. We will see if she picks up on this and rolls around the apartment. If so, I got a ton of baby proofing yet to do.
I cant post the picture of the project I am making as its a gift, but later I will, after the many Christmas's we are going to. :)

Christmas Ornament #7 Yarn Ball
I had an abundant amount of Styrofoam balls lying around and many scraps of yarn and felt, so I decided to make ornaments with them.
I used:
- Styrofoam balls
- Green and Red felt
- Red and White yarn
- Hot Glue
- Ribbon
I will be making a lot of these I think. I have a giant bag of bits of yarn from the thrift store and I had to use it.
Speaking of thrift stores, I will post my latest finds from Value Village later.

A little bit of vintage
Its more a spring dress, but it was so pretty and I couldn't wait. So with a pink onsie on underneath, she played dress up. Its vintage even, it used to be mine (we went through all my momma saved baby clothes and found some awesome ones).
She was even sitting by herself for a few seconds, long enough for me to get this shot right before she fell over. Shes finally interested in sitting.

Play
Second time playing with her telephone. First time shes not crying and screaming at it. She could not for the life of her figure out what it did and why it didn't fit in her mouth. She sat and cried and blew spit at it until I put it away and gave her a different toy. This time she was all about touching it and making it DING.
She sat with me a bit more and played until she got frustrated again that it wouldn't fit in her mouth. Poor girl. She will learn.
And then after that frustrating event, I decided to perch her precariously against the couch. Girl loves to stand. She had a great time also trying to eat my couch blanket. Yum. Just as I put the camera down, her legs started wobbling. Caught her just before she fell. She went on to play a bit more before she had her nap.

My little Christmas tree
Almost done except the star is missing. I need to get one of those today.
This is the oldest one I have. I love it. I got it in Grade 2 from "Santa" in school. It was the first ornament that wasn't made by me for my momma. Not made of beans and lentils, not scribbled on, no, not homemade, and all mine.
This one is just too cute. I got him a year or 2 ago when I had my little toilet brush of a tree. That itty bitty tree could only support the weight of tiny glass balls, so this guy wasn't used on the tree until this year. Hes my marshmallow snow man on top of hersheys chocolate and a graham cracker

Personalized Christmas Stockings
Finished them last night after I decorated our Christmas tree. Each stocking was like $2.00 from the mega walmart in Chilliwack. They were plain red felt with the white trim. I had just got 2 big bags of felt at the thrift store for $2.00
This craft was pretty cheap even if you dont have thrift store felt. I used 2 sheets, one red and one white. Have lots of red leftover.
So I printed some winter like animals and traced their silhouettes and did some fine cutting. Tony has a whiskey jack, I have the reindeer and Sadie (nicknamed bunny girl by Grandma) has a hare.
They are hanging by the kitchen with care.

feeding time
This is what has become of meal times with her. My ravenous child would rather jab herself in the face with her spoon than have me feed her. So we compromised. I guide fill her spoon, and she grabs it and thrusts it towards her face. I gently guide it to her mouth and lo and behold, she sucks it back and is ready again for more. I'm thinking she thinks its a game. Like when the cell phone is just out of reach and all she wants is to have it in her mouth. I didn't even put a bib on her because the last few times we tried solids, she would wail at me at the first spoonful. This was a spur of the moment "lets try and see what happens AGAIN" thing.
She was tossed into the tub and had a great time splashing me. In the end, I was soaked and covered in sweet potato rice cereal. Oh yea.
ohh blog neglect :(
We've been pretty busy here the last few weeks. There were mid terms, physio appointments, doctor appointments, snow, and a weekend away in chilliwack.
Sadie had her 6 month doctor appointment last week. Tony and I took her. Shes 14.5 lbs. She roughly gains a lb a month. Doctor said its fine, shes on the same growth curve shes always been on. Shes still tall for her age, and I can tell. Shes grown out of all the 3-6 month onsies, and we are moving close to being able to wear 9 month ones. We did her shots like always. I sit down, not watching, Tony holds her fat little hams still and the doctor pricks her. She screams, and then cries, and the second one comes and she screams harder and wails. I hate shots. Through all those tears, she managed to smile at the doctor as she left. After the smile, the tears were back. Poor gal. So she calmed down as we left and we went to find Tony a toque at Oakridge Mall.
I liked this one kinda. Looks like a lumberjack. It actually fit him too. (In case you didn't know, he has a giant head)
In the end, he got this one. Its nice and stretchy and looked good. Why were we looking for a toque for him? Well, lucky boy gets to go skiing at Whistler for his friends bachelor party. Just a little jealous.
So we got home and I made a cup of tea and dunked my stroopie. It was delightful.
A few days after this, I had to take her to physio. Tony had grad photos during that time and it was snowing. I bundled Sadie up till she looked like a michelin man and out we went. I found out very quickly that strollers are not meant for snow. Not even a few inches. Oh I got quite the work out. I was sweating in all my winter clothes trying to push that stupid thing to the bus stop. It wasn't my easy close bus stop, it was a ways away. I was trying push that sucker forward with enough force to get er going, and at the same time be careful not to slide it near the road. Yay for un shovelled sidewalks. We managed to get to the appointment 10 min early. I am not one for being late for anything, so we left super early thankfully.
Shes doing well as far as her neck goes. She can now turn to the left 80 degrees instead of 45. Gotta work on getting her to do the last 10 and also work on how she tilts her head.
So then we spent the weekend in Chilliwack. Saw Harry Potter 7, decorated the house for Christmas, wrapped presents and went shopping. It was a busy good weekend. Next weekend I am alone with the baby. We do have plans to crochet with Larissa, and then I have plans on baking, cleaning and crafting some more. Gotta finish my ornament for the ornament exchange.
Ohh man, lots of stuff. I shall be getting back to posting regularly again.

How I get my daughter to look to the left:
Put the "forbidden" remote and cell phone on the left just out of reach.
She's been trying for a while now. When she gives up, she rests her head facing left and just stares at them.
Physio is this Thursday, so we shall see how shes doing with her neck muscles. In other news, she had her 6 month shots and a flu booster thing. She gets the rest of the flu shot in a month :( Tony is so good. I sit in the chair and not looking, he holds her legs still and the doctor jabs her. She always screams and cries. He cuddles her and she wails. This time though, she was wailing and when the doctor said "bye bye" Sadie smiled. She smiled through the tears and red eyes. As soon as the doctor was gone though, the crying continued. She stopped after she got dressed. Shes only 14.5 lbs, but shes on the same growth curve as before, so the doctor says there's nothing to worry about.
She's been clingy today but still pretty happy. After next month we dont have to do shots until shes 12 months old. YAY!
