a nice getaway

So this last week we've been away at Chilliwack. Its been so nice to relax and play with the little girl, go shopping and eat yummy food.

We ate and ate and ate. There was butter chicken and rice one night, then beautiful sockeye salmon. Tony and I had an anniversary dinner at Greek Islands. We visited with the family.

We met up with Tony's mom and sister and headed out to the lake. It was getting dark but we still wanted to hang out at the lake for a bit.

I wore Aria's swimsuit (surprised that it fit, --a good thing) but it was too cold for me to jump in. I am a big chicken when it comes to that.

Little girl wore the warmest clothes that I brought. They were a mishmash of pink pants, purple flowered hoodie and her best green knee socks. I haven't found socks quite like these ones. They are the only ones that stay on her. I really want some of them for me. They look super warm and toasty.

She was pretty well behaved...

and then she got upset. We tired her out all day with the non stop company and playing.

Beth was brave enough to face the cold. She is awesome.

She was zonked by then and fell asleep. More to come later. Needing to write down ideas for some crafty things.

Classy

So yesterday was another fun day in the world of heartburn. I looked forward to my dr appointment in the afternoon. She holds the ability to cure this or at least see if it's something more.

Sooo I was feeling rather horrible and it got so bad that it sent me running to the can to throw up. Now it just so happens that our landlord came to give us an update on our bathroom and to see it.

Tony answers the door and meanwhile I in my haste did not shut the bathroom door fully. Haaaaaaaarrrrrrffffff! While talking to the landlord at the front door, there I was like right next door piling out all the tums I ate as well as anything left in my stomach (and then some). Yes I am quite the classy lady. Poor Tony and mr m had to listen to that. Oh well I couldn't help it.

The rest of the day I tried to sleep away the pain. The doctor thinks I have an inflamed gallbladder. She gave me meds that should prevent heartburn. Yay! Oh sweet relief! Testing them out this morning. Testing is to be done for this gallbladder, ultrasound and blood work. I will be having a date with the vampires in the lab again soon. .

Raining in the bathroom part 3 (the final part?)

Sooooo as we all might have guessed, it started raining on me in the bathroom again. This morning I hear the guy upstairs in the tub and then low and behold *drip drip drip*. I called the landlord again and let him know that the water is just finding new places to drip from. Now we have a plumber coming friday morning/afternoon to rip open our ceiling to see what is going on. YAY!

Finally its getting fixed. Now we gotta get out while this all goes down. The last thing we want is to expose Sadie to any terrible mold that is going on up there (cause there has to be some up there by now). I think we are headed to Chilliwack for a few days.

Tony is almost done school, just 2 more days or so. I am so glad its over. He will have a few weeks off before his FINAL semester in september. Oh its been so long. He is looking forward to getting out of school for a bit and not dealing with the student loan people.

(lets play a game, how many things can you spot on my living room floor?)

I thought of something that I dont think I've shared here before. I have a quirky way of taking out the trash. You know how most people haul their full bags of stinky garbage to the curb, or to a dumpster? Well, not us, not really. I detest taking out the garbage. I gag every time. Tony used heave our garbage down the hall, lug it down the stairs, and then all the way to the dumpster. This didnt last long. He hates it as well.

Well, one day I didnt want to take it to the dumpster, so instead, I put it on the patio. I realized that from our second floor patio, the dumpster is not too far away. As long as its not terribly heavy stuff, my plan would work. I take our bags of trash and carefully drop them down below on the ground. Tony (my partner in crime) will then throw them in the dumpster. This makes for less hauling of stuff and its kinda fun. I love hearing the bags sometimes explode when they hit the ground. None of the bags ever tear enough to spill garbage everywhere and its way faster than anything else. I swear the first time we did it, I had an audience of neighbours peeking. I think they are used to it now. If they were smart or close to their dumpsters, they might consider it too.

Hurrah for throwing garbage from a second story apartment!

Huzzzah it's hives

I startled myself this morning something fierce. I woke up, felt awesome. Got a good amount if sleep thanks to the little one. Decided to head to Safeway for some groceries (the fridge had been bare for a few days).

Sadie and I headed out and on the way I realized I felt kinda prickly on my side. Thought nothing of it until I was in the parking lot and looked down in my purse. I happened to see a glimpse of my arm and WHOA! When did I catch the plague?!? Must have looked a little weird to the 4 other people in the parking lot who saw me peeking at my tummy, and down my shirt. Sunglasses on it wasn't so bad but when they were off, my pale skin showed off my rash quite nicely.

Pharmacy was closed until 10 so I didn't stick around. Bought only a few things to tide Tony over with (waffles, berries, eggs). He loves breakfast things.

This day is like the worst possible day for this to happen. I am headed to the clinic again to discuss allergic reactions and my antibiotics. I should really be home helping Tony with his last report. This will make for an interesting night. I promised I would stay up as long as it takes to help him. Oh bother!

Only 2 more days until this semester is over. The last one for school starts in september! Ahhh the end is in sight! Victory is near!

ahhh good day so far

Brewed a big batch of homemade iced tea. I much prefer this to the store bought stuff. I control the sugar in it and the lemon. I love it lemony. I then helped a much stressed Tony with some report.

Bought sushi to help the stressed Tony relax. He loved it and was very happy. Almost dropped beef teryiaki roll on Sadie's head. whoops.

Did the laundry with a helper of sorts. She entertains while I fold.

And then we had a sleep. Very uneventful day really, but a nice one.

Oh and do see inception if you get the chance, its very interesting and I really loved it.

raining in the bathroom part deux

Awesome.

Simply awesome.

After the landlord found out the issue, muded the ceiling and said he would come back and fix it Monday.

Obviously the ceiling is not raining on its own.

Our lovely upstairs neighbour splashes around in his tub and this spills through the crack between the wall and the tub liner. when I say "splashes" I mean it. I've heard the guy, and it reminds me of when I was little and would push off the end of the tub to slide to the other end. Its like he keeps a whale in his bathroom.

Logic would say "hey, lets fix the liner first", but no, we dont listen to logic here.

*sigh*

At least it doesnt drip on the floor.

Its been a downer type day, but the upside is the fact that Tony and I get to go out for a date tonight. YAY! Inception here I come.

its a disaster zone!

This was my house yesterday...laundry on the floor, baby on the floor (she was content playing) and vacuum on the floor. It didnt feel right to wear a blanket but I had goosebumps from that stupid fever.

Feeling better now. Haven't had a fever yet this morning. So it was what I thought, mastitis. Taking antibiotics for that. Its not terrible, I caught it early before it got bad. Breastfeeding way more just to ensure that this goes away. Hot showers would be nice but that cant happen yet.  Since the rain in the bathroom incident the ceiling is being repaired, and the mud that is on it needs to dry out. So hot washcloths will do.

In other news, we found that Sadie seems to be quite ticklish. Tony was tickling her ribs and she was making noise and grinning and then all of a sudden SQUEAL!! She was so excited that she shrieked in the cutest high pitched voice ever. I think it helped Tony feel better (been stressed out a lot with school lately).

Happy Birthday Tony

Its his birthday today. I've been cleaning up the house like crazy so that I feel better about the place. I am always happier in a clean house.

Also, I am a little crazy. Crazy enough to bake a cake in summer. Its not terribly hot out, but it makes it for an uncomfortable afternoon. I haven't baked in forever, probably since I was pregnant with shnooks. It feels sooooo good to do something creative in the kitchen. I used to try all kinds of new things and LOVED IT. Now my big thing is to find new toppings for a hot dog, or open a can of spaghetti sauce for pasta. woooooo! (oh the sarcasm). I haven't felt up to doing much in the kitchen, but I pushed myself to make something super special for Tony. Hes been feeling down lately. Hes worried about his health and stuff and having a birthday doesn't help that. We found him a doctor that is across the street from mine and he goes Monday to see whats going on.

So what is my super special thing? Well, its chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and probably something chocolate like for the icing. The boy loves his chocolate and had asked for chocolate cake. Never before have I tried making ganache, so not hard. Its easy peesy and very yummy. Thank goodness I hide the chocolate chips from him or I would be ganache-less.

Pictures will be on the cell phone as my cameras memory card died. It did a mitosis and split in two. The camera phone will have to do for now.

This has been the best cake so far. Its not lopsided and there are no crumbs in the icing. I am getting lots better at this thing.

I enjoyed my piece, and am only having one. That is my limit. The rest of the cake has been shared with the babysitters (Beth and my mother in law). They babysat while we went to a movie.

waiting

We are patiently awaiting the arrival of the family. They are here to borrow a camera and bring me my laundry that I forgot. Mikaela will be staying a few days to help me clean and take care of small one. I love it when they help cause I get to have a longer nap.

She was on her tummy this morning and shuffled herself around in a full circle by kicking her legs. She is liking being on her tummy more now. She used to bonk her head on the floor and scream.

She is awake now and so we shall play some more.

Success!

I have already somewhat rubbed my warped sense of humor on my child. We have been playing with these guys today and she's loving them. Moxy (The pink one) tickles her neck with its ears and Ice Bat is fun to look at. Tony thinks its cute and strange that I've done this.  Sadie and I have been playing lots more, and she smiles and makes cooing noises at me.

So far today I've been trying to think of something good for my blank canvas but nothing so far. I have an idea for a craft that I've been wanting to do since I was pregnant but I couldnt make it out to the craft store to get the supplies. I am hoping that I can do that this weekend.

I cant wait for the day when I can move into a bigger place. All I want to do is to be able to decorate or paint the walls and make Sadie's room pretty. I've been looking at this site: http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/home-tours

Its got awesome stuff on it.

being silly

Goals for tomorrow:

  • dishes
  • sweep floor
  • pick up living room
  • pack over night stuff for Sadie and I
This is so I can visit these crazies on the weekend...

They are excited to see Sadie mostly, and I guess go shopping, FINALLY!

Going to bed now and then when Sadie wakes up, I shall watch an episode of "The Big Bang Theory". Awesome show. Fiona, Sheldon is defiantly my favourite character.

its such a nice day out

Just sitting here listening to the little girl grunting in her sleep. Shes almost awake, but still not quite there. Its warm out today. Its so nice and sunny and a perfect day to bbq.

I've run out of thank you cards again and have to make some more. I only need a few more though, so thats good.

(From weheartit.com)

Tony is doing a mid term at the moment, so hopefully that goes well. We were both grouchy this morning. Sadie and I camped out in the living room for part of the morning, sleeping on the couch listening to tv. It was a good little bit of sleeping in after a not-so-fun night.

I really hope we can visit chilliwack this weekend. I desperately need to go shopping for clothes for me.

check it out!

New freezer is sitting in our apartment! Its perfect for keeping freezies cold (amongst other things). It was so hot today in the house. I dread the heat from summer. We keep forgetting to haul up the fans from storage. Our place is kinda like a green house in that all our many windows face the sun during the day in the summer. We have a lot of windows, and it makes for sweaty times. Last year I laid infront of our big box fan and used a spray bottle of water to cool me down.

Today I lived off a lot of blue and white freezies. Those are my favourite flavors. I think white is coconut and blue is blue raspberry. Orange comes in third and then all the rest. Sadie was a little too hot and had a bit of heat rash near her neck. I am hoping a nice bath and being naked helps.

This is what we did today. We tested out the vibrating bouncy chair. Once it started really vibrating she had a good time looking outside and being mostly naked.

First adventure sans small one

It felt a little weird not bringing her along but I managed to stay sane while Tony and I had a date. Yes, a date to see Robin Hood. I haven't left the house without her yet and I will admit, I started to miss her at the end when we were waiting for the bus home. The movie was good, I liked it, but Tony thought it was too similar to Gladiator.

Larissa and Colton did an excellent job of babysitting. Sadie pooped at them too. They have been christened now lol.

And here we are in bed, trying to get all the burps out. This one is tough to burp sometimes.

easter in chilliwack

Aww sibling love. We had fun shopping at the Cottonwood mall surprisingly. I think it has to do with the lack of crowds and smallness of mall. These sillies were posing for photos on my phone so that this appears when they call me.

This is me feeling a little too fat. I like this top though, its cute and has cute little pockets at the bottom that I am covering up. I am feeling super tired today and may just have a nap. I despise naps, but I know I will learn to love them.

Someones spine and legs is making my belly lopsided right now as they are taking up all the space. I have a little space hog that seems to be filling out too nicely and now is making me feel too full of baby. I certainly hope that the doctor was right in saying that this baby would come early. Not too early, but early-ish is good for me.

Maybe Aria can either post the Easter pictures or send them to me. I want to see them. ARIA, do this! LOL

apple berry crisp (and then some)

Today was my "empty-half-used-baggies-from-my-freezer" day. I found many half full and quarter full baggies of berries. These are the berries that you forget about that grow like an inch of ice crystals around them and you can barely tell what they are. I had apples and decided to make crisp.

I made this by myself a long time ago and it did not turn out well, it turned out dry and icky. Well this was much better.

Emptied all baggies of berries into a bowl in the sick to get the ice off and then did all my apples up and made the crumbly crumbly crust. While it was baking in the oven, I realized that its best with ice cream. I had less than 20 minutes and boogied to the Safeway in the rain (3 minute walk). Made it home with time to spare!

Tony was quite pleased with this desert, and was telling his best friend Ian all about how awesome it was. This made me very happy since its been a crappy day.

Its been very crappy for us both. He's been super busy with projects at school and it makes him stressed and grumpy. He stays up really late at school and comes home at like 1 or 2 am. Lack of sleep doesn't help him. He is fueled by coffee it seems.

I get all grumpy cause I am at home doing school work alone or at school and so we hardly see each other. Today has been the most I've seen him. He even goes into school on Saturdays to try and get things done.  I think its cause hes super stressed about being the group leader. He's never been the leader before for a project of this magnitude. They are making a robotic tank that you can steer by flexing your muscles.  Haven't seen it yet, but next week I think they are testing it, so I shall go down to UBC and take pictures of this crazy device.

Since Tony has been away from home a lot, the bird has been clinging to me way more. We usually do the dishes and have a shower together when I wake up. Bird sits on the shower head and gets all excited about the steam. The bird usually licks the tiles that have condensation on them. funny bird.

new sweaters and veggies

went shopping at the "good" mall in Chilliwack, the cottonwood, just to look around really. Aria, Mikaela and I wandered around. We checked out the Hello Kitty things and then shared a thing of chicken teriyaki. Right after we decided to head to bluenotes and oh there was a sale on cute sweaters. Mikaela spotted them. They are the ones that don't have buttons on them, they kinda just hang open, but are longish. Perfect for spring and perfect for me. We all ended up buying one. Mik and I got navy blue and Aria got the last black one. I shall get a picture of it or us tomorrow if I can convince Mik to be a twin.

I love this sweater. Doesn't require any buttoning up, I can wear it when I'm too hot cause its light and it looks kinda dressy.

Tried another weird veggie, but I didn't cook it this time. My momma had cooked rutabagas with the other veggies. I ate a bunch of those today. They were pretty good.

Baby has the hiccups at the moment. I am going to try and sleep later so I can sleep through this 10 hour fasting stuff. Only like one or 2 vials of blood that the vampires need to take so its not as bad. Still bad that I get nervous about it. They will make me lay down, I don't mind. Rather not pass out.

weekend away

I had fun this weekend. Got picked up by my parents and we headed out to chilliwack for Superbowl Sunday. I've never watched a whole football game before, but this one was pretty good and I got to learn about how to play it. We also had awesome football food like wings, dip and croustini, chili and more. Aria made the bunt cake and I helped her a bit. She did all the decorating and that, I just helped add and mix things to her batter.

It turned out really well and would have been great with milk (ran out).

Rough sleep last night though, I wasn't in my own bed surrounded by my fluffy pillows and I paid for it when I woke up. Hips were stiff for a couple hours after I woke up. I am sure that I woke up Aria with tossing about. I felt more like a thrashing fish for part of the night. She slept through most of it apparently.

Chili for breakfast was good. I did not eat the cake even though it tempted me.

Then when mik left for school we headed out to go shopping and looking. That was lots of fun. Aria and mom bought me a few outfits for the baby.

I don't really thing about what I want anymore. My birthday is coming up in a month and I don't have a clue as to what I want for me. I want to feel more ready for this baby and I feel so not. Still have a few more months to go, but its always going through my mind cause it doesn't help that there is a little kicking reminder sharing my body.

This birthday is a quarter of a century for me. I don't think I will be upset about it as much as Tony was about his because baby is coming and I had always wanted a baby before this birthday. Close enough that baby is due in early may. Spring baby :)

clumsy day

Today we (Aria and I) embarked on the adventure of putting together the expedit cube shelf from ikea. She has one at home that I've envied for so long and finally I had to have one for storage. Babies have tons of stuff and so I am getting ready to be semi organized.

She didn't want me to take any pictures of her early on in the building as she was not wearing makeup and was in her jammies. :P Reading the terrible instructions does help when putting a shelf together properly. We learned this after screwing on the top and bottom as if they were sides and then realizing that the inside shelves needed to go in before the outer part was complete.

I bashed my knee on the shelf and hit my thigh on the corner of the tv table. It has a scratch and the becoming of a bluish bruise. It was well worth it though.

After that we did everything by the book and lo and behold, a shelf was made!

She bought us the 3 blue cubes to hold stuff. They are super nice and she now wants them for hers.

Cute baby clothes and blankets come with neat wrapping and ribbons. We have baby things now in a couple of the cubes.

It was our treat for doing a lot of work yesterday, but since we both hate black ones, aria took them out and brought them home for my momma.

It feels nice to have all my stuff organized so far. My goal is to keep it that way. On the lookout now for 2 dressers for our room.

visiting and treats!

My parents were in town today and decided to visit me! So happy they did, I was so bored today. I tried baking cookies and as I got to the part where I was to add flour, I realized I didn't have any more. Also didn't feel like going to get it from the store right away which was perfect cause they popped in and we hung out for a bit.

Mom and Dad brought us treats! Homemade blueberry jam, cobs bread and some other things like fruit and stuff. (excuse the terrible picture, its kinda blurry but I was in a hurry to take the picture and eat the toast before it got cold).

We went out and brought home pizza, it was good. Also talked about how we are going to fit a baby in our apartment and what Dad could build me for the house. Hopefully he will build me a cupboard thing that holds my crafts and stuff cause my rubbermaid-esque one is broken from me kicking it closed - a lot. I really have cut back on getting more, only stuff I need, like fabric paint for screen printing. Gotta mix it and make it pink cause baby girl will be wearing some of my creations. Crafts have been slowly taking over my living room, under my desk, the rubbermaid tub, wooden chest and kitchen table. I wouldn't even call it a kitchen table cause I don't use it to eat on, just to paint on or craft on.

So we have a plan for where to put it and where we can put our stuff and things we need. Dresser or 2 is on my list of things to get. Shelves from Ikea are on that list too. Shopping is next weekend and I cant wait! It will feel a little better to get some of this done.
